Source 2: Westwood One P84-19 for broadcast week of 4/30/84
Source 3: DADDY 515 MASTER TAPE > SONY RCD W500 > EAC > FLAC 8 > TLH > YOU.

12 of the 14 tracks come from Sources 1 & 2, the original pre-FM LP’s, unfortunately there is no circulating pre-FM of the complete show even though LP’s exist (Westwood One In Concert IC-19), so two tracks “I’m The One” and “World Turning” were sourced from an FM capture of the broadcast. As of October 2025, this is the most complete version of this show from the best lossless sources available.

Phil Collins – Live at Perkins Palace 1982 Complete (Mr. Sifter reconstruction & remaster)

Phil Collins
December 19, 1982
Perkins Palace
Pasadena, CA

A Mr. Sifter pre-FM reconstruction/remaster.

This was compiled from several sources: The majority from a King Biscuit CD used for a 1993 broadcast, with another stray track coming from another KBFH CD in 1998. Three or four tracks were only ever pressed on vinyl, those are taken from original KBFH LP’s. Two further tracks (“Thunder and Lightning” and “If Leaving Me Is Easy”) were never broadcast, and had to be sourced from Wolfgang’s Vault. I used Izotope Spectral Recovery to attempt to minimize a bit of the lossy mp3 source, but in my search there is no truly lossless source for those two tracks.

Some of the banter and band introduction bits were taken from Philadelphia a week earlier, I have not attempted to rectify any discrepancies there, this is just about getting all the music played on that night in one place, in the best possible sound.

Please enjoy, play loudly, and don’t distribute in lossy formats.

Remastered by Mr. Sifter, December 2024

Remaster notes:

Speed corrected, the bootleg circulating ran about a half-step too fast. Bass and drums were overly dominant, often drowning out Bob and GE’s guitars, reduced the drums around -3db and boosted the guitars slightly using RX11 Music Rebalance. Cut some of the low rumble below 50hz to reduce excessive bass without removing Kenny’s presence. Vocals still nice and clear in the mix. Turn up loud and enjoy.

Remastered by Mr. Sifter, October 2024.

Remaster notes: a nice but very dry SBD, added some slight room reverb via Izotope Aurora & mastered using Waves Abbey Road Mastering, hopefully feels a bit closer to a proper live album. Nice, low-key show just before her big comeback started to kick into gear.

Remastered by Mr. Sifter, August 2024.

Remastering notes:

Removed a 60hz hum present throughout most of the recording, as well as reduced some (not all) of the hiss from clearly a cassette source. Did some modest polishing to the sound, added very slight reverb to make it feel a bit more like a live album (BC Place can hold 60,000 for concerts), but without detracting from the detail in the soundboard. Removed the annoying close clapper between songs. Removed the break between discs for a seamless transition. Retracked the show to split medleys.

A good show towards the end of the reunion tour, with a few notable arrangement differences from the Central Park gig, several different band members, a couple S&G songs not performed in 1981, and three ‘Hearts and Bones’ songs.

Remastered and speed corrected by Mr. Sifter, July 2024. Some songs have incomplete intros/outros, and “Southbound” has a cut in the middle. Not anyone’s favorite era but an overlooked era, with full 5 songs off ‘Brothers Of The Road,’ an album they’d never return to again after the tour ended a couple months later.

The source had instruments and vocals panned almost entirely to one side, like an early Beatles stereo recording. Extracted tracks via DeMix Pro & mixed in Logic Pro. Not much bass on the master tape, unfortunately, but did the best I could do.

Remastered by Mr. Sifter, February 2024.

This was a pretty rough tape, definitely a 2nd or 3rd gen copy of the original SBD, almost not worth working with but for the inclusion of the rarely played "Jig Is Up." Unfortunately to get any real detail out of this tape meant introducing some of the kind of prickly treble that is often unappetizing, so it's a bit of a lesser of two evils choice for this show. On the other hand, the SBD recording itself is very well recorded, a nice balance of both guitars, hopefully a lower gen tape will surface one day.
